Powerful Polyphenols

Lipton Tea, tea pot and mug

If you start your day with a steaming cup of tea or tall glass of fruit or vegetable juice, you’re doing more than just treating your taste buds. Both beverages are great sources of polyphenols, antioxidants that are among your best allies in helping you stay healthy.

Polyphenols occur naturally in fruits and vegetables, as well as in products made from them, such as wine, tea, and fruit and vegetable juices. They help protect the body from free radicals, substances that can damage cells.

While the effects of polyphenols are still being studied, initial research indicates that people who drink juice more than three times a week may be less likely to have Alzheimer’s disease than those who drank juice less than once a week.

Studies have shown that regular tea drinking, as part of a healthy diet, may help maintain cardiovascular health.
