Now That's Entertaining!

Gather friends and family for casual fare and lots of laughs

The next time your kitchen becomes the gathering place for the whole gang, take heart: You don’t need to have a fancy meal to have fun. Try these entertaining ideas and recipes:

Design Your Own Pizzas

Here’s how to get everyone’s creative juices flowing. Set out ready-to-bake pizza dough (or toasted English muffins) and a variety of tomato sauces and toppings. Each person creates his or her own combo. Everyone then gets to taste test each one and vote for their favorite pie by a show of hands.

Mingle Around the Drinks

Set up a side table as the beverage station, away from the main eating area to keep guests moving about. Stock it with liters of soda, punch in a colorful bowl. Guests can then help themselves to refills.

Play Mealtime Musical Chairs

Encourage your guests to get to know one another better. Have everyone switch seats after each course.

Share the Memories

It’s always fun to look at old photos of friends and family. Invite your guests to bring their favorite pics to dinner and have them take turns telling the story behind each shot.

Get Some Scents-A-Peel

Give your home a fresh, sweet scent by simmering lemon peels in a pot of water on the stove. Studies show that lemon fragrance increases productivity, which means you’ll get more done in less time. Don’t have time to peel fruit? Burn a citrus-scented candle instead.

Make a Fantastic Orange Fizzy

Amaze your kids with this neat trick: Add ¼ teaspoon baking soda to an 8-ounce glass of orange juice and watch it fizz like crazy. It’s safe to drink and gives them a boost of vitamin C!
