Get Wet, Stay Fit

Want to work out in the pool, but you’re not a fan of laps? Try water aerobics, and you can add fun and variety to your exercise routine. Water aerobics improves your cardiovascular health in addition to building muscles and burning calories. Plus buoyancy helps reduce the risk of injuries.
There’s something for everyone in the pool, from high-intensity classes with energetic music to yoga and tai chi sessions. Or you can go it alone without much equipment. For a real workout, simply run. Make sure your whole foot touches the pool bottom. Then go in reverse. For an easier variation, balance on a floatation noodle in the deep end, and move your legs as if you were walking on land. To test your balance and endurance, do in-the-water jumping jacks. You can even lift: Grab some water weights and do curls, extensions and presses.
