Family arguments can break out over anything from politics to whose potato salad is better. If a discussion gets too heated, step in and point out how great it is to have a family that is so diverse and can share different opinions. Also, you may want to let any feuding family members know who’s coming, so they can decide whether they want to attend.

When my family gathers for the holiday season, we always go around the table (there can be as many as 25 of us!) and say what we are most grateful for during the past year. That always tends to put things such as petty disagreements in perspective.
when I have a family reunion, I tell everyone to leave their problems outside my gate, they are there because I wanted them there and I love them all and their problems are not mine. so far , we have gone home with no hurt feelings.
