How to Look Great on the Go

No time to primp? Here's how to look flirty and fabulous in a flash.

Moms are always short on time. But that doesn’t mean you can’t look stunning this season — no matter how hectic your schedule. Try these time-saving tips for party-perfect hair and makeup in minutes.

Makeup Made Simple

Tap a Friend’s Flair For a fresh take on glam, let a friend do your makeup (and return the favor), suggests makeup artist Susie Galvez, author of The Thrifty Girl’s Guide to Glamour: Living the Beautiful Life on Little or No Money. “You’ll be amazed at how you can give each other a totally new look,” she says.

Party-Proof Your Shadow To make eye shadow last all night, Galvez recommends moistening it with water before applying.

Glamorize Your Eyes Create instant dramatic impact by placing a small dot of gold or light-reflecting eye shadow on the center of your upper lid, then blend slightly. “When you blink, the light will draw attention to your eyes,” says Galvez.

Pucker Up The fastest way to make lips more festive? Add a light touch of shimmery gloss over your regular lipstick.

Glow All Over Showing skin? Sprinkle glimmer powder on your back, décolletage or shoulders. “As the lights twinkle, so will you!” notes Galvez.

Sensational Hair in a Snap

Add Oomph! Extra volume makes a basic bob look fancier, says New Jersey–based hairstylist Kondor, owner of the Mane-Lee-Kinky salon. Set hair with a few hot or Velcro® rollers, then do your makeup and get dressed. Remove rollers, flip your head forward and gently tousle curls to loosen. Spritz with holding spray and flip your head back.

Tailor Your Ponytail To lend elegance to this easy style, part your hair neatly on one side and work a little pomade into it before sweeping it back. “The idea is to keep everything smooth — no loose strands,” says Kondor. Clasp with a gem-studded clip for extra sparkle.

Get Shine in Seconds However you wear your hair, don’t forget to add a shine-enhancing product (look for silicone in the ingredients). It will reflect light and make hair shimmer.
