Four-Step Deviled Eggs

Making perfect deviled eggs without that ugly green ring is easy.

  1. 1. Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover them with cold water.
  2. 2. Bring the water to a boil over high heat, remove the pan from heat and cover for 10 minutes.
  3. 3. Drain the water and place the eggs in a bowl filled with cold water to stop the cooking and prevent the green ring from forming.
  4. 4. Let the eggs stand in the cold water at least five minutes before cracking and peeling off their shells.
