What’s more fun than baking holiday cookies? Inviting your favorite neighbors over to join in! Because you’ll need large quantities of ingredients, you can take advantage of buying in bulk, and the decorating goes much faster when everyone pitches in. Put out a plate of cheese and fruit for everyone to nosh on (or else those cookies will disappear fast). Provide paper or plastic plates, plastic wrap and bows so folks can wrap their masterpieces to take with them.

During the holidays, I cut out and bake my cookies ahead of time and freeze them. Then, one Saturday or evening before the holiday, I have my grandchildren over. Each child gets a small saucer of frosting and a clean popsicle stick. I divide the cookies among the kids. In the center of the table on my lazy susan, I have an assortment of sprinkles and other decors. The table is completely covered in plastic and each child wears a kitchen trash bag with head and arms cut out. I play holiday music and we all just have fun. My daughter now does this with her grandchildren. Priceless memories are created ( and mom and dad are grateful for a few kid free hours during the holidays).
