Tips for Luminous Skin

When it comes to beauty, nothing feels better than knowing your skin is blemish-free and truly glowing. Luckily, even on days when nature won’t cooperate, some simple makeup tricks can make your skin look more luminous and lovely. Ramy Gafni, founder of RAMY Beauty Therapy in New York City and makeup artist to A-list movie stars, has a few methods that always work.

“There are two things I use on bare skin to make it look really luminous,” he says. “First, I apply either a bronze-color blush or a gel bronzer to the face &mdash all over the face, wherever the sun would naturally hit.” Then he adds his Pure Juice Highlighter, which looks white but goes on with no color to give a highlighted effect, explains Ramy. “That goes under the brow bones or on the eyelids, high up on the cheekbones, and under the center of the lower lip,” he explains. Blend it in, then add a little more bronze blush to the cheeks and eyes and blend again.

You can also apply a bronzer, either on its own or by mixing it with your usual moisturizer and putting in on your face and neck, Ramy says. “It doesn’t have a shimmer, but it makes the skin look juicy” — the appearance of well-hydrated skin is key to luminosity. Then, “add a highlighter to eyes, cheeks and around the face, and maybe a little blush in a rosy or pink color,” he concludes. “That combination of bronze, highlight and blush is very glow-y.”
