The Right Steps for Shoe Care
Protect the investment you make in footwear.

If the shoe fits, then take good care of it. High-quality, well-fitting shoes not only complement your wardrobe, but also help protect two of your most important assets: your feet. Try these ways to find, care for and enjoy many seasons with your best wedges, loafers and others.
- Look for shoes that provide ample cushioning. Every step you take can put almost three times your body weight on your foot. Have a heel habit? Add arch supports or inserts to soften the blow of walking in them. Plus, choose styles that have plenty of room for your toes.
- Remember, feet grow wider and longer as you age, so double-check your size before buying another seven.
- Get the most from your latest lovely leather investment by cleaning, conditioning and polishing shoes to prevent cracks. Or save time and take them to the cobbler for a tune-up. In a pinch, you can use a touch of olive oil to give leather luster, but do a patch test first.
- Treat new suede shoes with a protective spray as soon as you get home. A suede block or eraser will cover maintenance needs down the road.
- Use shoe trees to help prevent creases, maintain shape and combat moisture in footwear.
