Preventing E-Waste
Most of us have old computers, printers or cell phones sitting in the back of a closet or in a junk drawer, simply because we don’t know how to recycle them properly. Fortunately, there are organizations to guide you through the process.
The National Center for Electronics Recycling
Use this site to locate the electronic recycling facilities in your area. Just type in your ZIP code and you’ll receive a list of organizations that accept computers, pagers, stereos, VCRs, televisions and more.
Cell Phones for Soldiers
Help two good causes. Donate your used cell phone to this organization by printing out a shipping label online and mailing it in, or bringing it directly to one of the designated drop-off centers. Cells Phones for Soldiers sells the donated phones to a recycling company, then uses the proceeds to purchase pre-paid calling cards for overseas U.S. troops.
