My Most Embarrassing Moment
True tales of beauty blunders

Several years ago during a Super Bowl half-time show, the term “wardrobe malfunction” became part of the vernacular. Now the term describes everything from split pants to broken high heels. Just about every woman has a story to tell.
Tan-Trum!
Cindy, a 25-year-old guest at an August wedding, had a professional self-tanner applied to her body two days before the event. “I had been to this spray tanning salon before and they did an awesome job,” she says. “I thought it would be great because I was wearing a light coral silk dress.”
Although the weather on the day of the wedding was particularly hot and humid, Cindy remembers feeling like a million bucks when she arrived. “What I didn’t know was how much I was going to sweat,” she says. “When I got up after the ceremony, there was a huge brown stain running from my butt area up to the middle of my back. I looked like I had soiled myself. It was so embarrassing.”
Hope Floats
Kelly, a 53-year-old breast cancer survivor, knows from experience that laughter is the best medicine. Her worst wardrobe malfunction took place when she fell off a boat. “My husband and I are avid sailors, and we were having a birthday party for a friend,” she says. “All the boats were rafted together.” As Kelly stepped between boats, she lost her footing and fell in the water. “At first everyone was a little worried but soon we were all laughing hysterically,” she says. “My prosthetic breast had come out of my bra and was floating in the water. It looked like a scene from Jaws!”
Tucked Away
At seven months pregnant, Sarah recalls how difficult it was to find anything to wear that made her feel great. “I had gained more than 45 pounds,” she says. On her birthday, her husband had bought her a beautiful tunic, which she decided to wear out to the movies and dinner. “I felt so comfortable, which I was glad about because we had to park our car and walk a ways to the movie theater,” Sarah recounts. “As we were walking cars kept honking at us, but I didn’t think anything of it. When we got to the theater my husband saw that I had tucked the back of my tunic into my panty hose; I had been walking all that way with my underwear exposed!”
