Date-Night Makeup
Makeup expert Ramy Gafni helps you look great for a big night out.

On busy weekdays, you can be forgiven for not putting makeup at the top of your list of priorities. When date-night rolls around, however, it’s good to feel like more than a mom. But how do you make the transition and still look like yourself? Here are a few simple ways to glam up, courtesy of Ramy Gafni, founder of RAMY Beauty Therapy in New York City.
Make your lips more kissable. “Add a richer color of lipstick for evening, such as a deep red, burgundy or brown,” Ramy says. “Or, if that’s not in your comfort zone, but you want more glamor, add a little clear gloss on top of your daytime lipstick.”
Make your face more luminous. Why do celebrities always look like they have glowing skin? While good genes and a great facial definitely help, so does the right makeup: Choose a product — Ramy suggests his own Pure Juice Highlighter — that adds luminosity to eyelids, cheeks and lips. “It makes the cheeks dewy, the eyes look shimmery, and it’s a great way to take a matte daytime look into something glossy for night.”
Make your eyes more expressive. “Extend the line along your upper lashes a little past the outer eye,” Ramy advises. “Or emphasize the upper eye by smudging the liner for a soft but sultry look. Just smudge it a little — the line doesn’t have to be perfect.”
