7 billion The amount in dollars U.S. women spend on cosmetics and beauty products each year — on average, about $100 per woman per month. The average U.K. consumer, by contrast, spends roughly $544 yearly.

2 The percentage of women who described their looks as “beautiful” in a 2004 study conducted by Dove®. The most popular responses were “natural” (31%) and “average” (29%). Six percent of Brazilian women chose “beautiful” to describe themselves — the highest percentage of all countries studied.

The society, which has been collecting multispecialty procedural statistics since 1997, says the overall number of cosmetic procedures has increased 457%.
