An Easy Everyday Look

Can putting on makeup that enhances your best features (and minimizes not-so-great ones) really be simple? Ramy Gafni, founder of RAMY Beauty Therapy in New York City and makeup artist to A-list celebrities, outlines his plan for an easy and flattering beauty routine.

“First, apply your moisturizer and SPF — whatever your usual skin-care routine is,” he advises. Then put a moisturizing concealer on your eyes from your lash line up to your brow bone and set it with a little translucent powder.

If you’re using foundation, apply it all over your face or just to the places where you want to even out your complexion, taking care to choose a shade that’s as close to the skin color on your face (not your wrist or hand) as possible. “If you’re skipping foundation, apply powder all over your face to minimize shine,” Ramy says.

Next up are the eyes: Ramy favors his own Perfect Eye Wand, which combines an eyeliner (applied at the upper-lash line) and eye shadow (applied in the crease of the eyelid). “Blend both with your finger, then add a little mascara,” he says.

Now it’s time to add color: “Sweep a flesh-toned or pale-pink blush on the eyelids and cheeks to add a pop of color and give your face a little glow.” The finishing touch is lipstick or gloss.

If you’re really pressed for time, Ramy offers this bare-bones solution. “To minimize this routine even further,” Ramy says, “do whatever combination you need to of concealer, foundation and powder, then use a combination product to apply color to eyes, cheeks and lips, and, finally, add mascara. You’ll be done in two minutes!”
