A Makeup Artist’s Secret Weapon
Mally Roncal on her favorite beauty tool

You don’t need expensive makeup brushes and tools to perfect your look. Just ask Mally Roncal, a makeup artist whose celebrity clientele includes many A-list movie stars. What’s her secret weapon? Q-tips® cotton swabs. Roncal says Q-tips® cotton swabs are her favorite precision tools for makeup application. Here’s how you can use them in your daily beauty routine.
No More Wayward Liner
Because they’re 100% cotton, Q-tips® cotton swabs are safe for the area around your eyes. To make a precise line on your eyelid, twist the top of a cotton swab to a fine point. Then dab it in the liner and carefully apply it along the edge of your eyelids and in those hard-to-reach places, such as the corners of the eye.
Lips That Shine — With Color!
Does your lipstick cling to your coffee mug better than it does to your lips? Keep color where it belongs by applying loose powder around your lips with a Q-tips® cotton swab to set it. Then, to give your pout a glossy finish, dip a cotton swab in Vaseline® Petroleum Jelly and apply it on top of your lipstick.
Mess-Free Makeup Removal
Sometimes makeup doesn’t quite stay in place (we’re talking about you, mascara). But don’t attack your face with a tissue or paper towel. Moisten a Q-tips® cotton swab with water to gently brush away any specks of makeup that settle on your cheeks and below your eyes.
Remember to use a new Q-tips® cotton swab for each area of your face. And when you’re done, just throw them out. There’s no need to worry about cleaning this makeup tool! Just keep a stash of cotton swabs on hand—in your makeup bag, your purse and anywhere else where you can easily access them — and you’ll always be prepared for a makeup emergency.
